A Little Bit About Us
Juxtaposition is a student-run organization with broad goals of performance throughout the Virginia Tech community. Our group defines itself by our unique arrangements of popular, as well as not-so-popular songs. As well as live performance, we designate much of our efforts towards recording albums of our newest material.
The group has been around since 1994, making it the longest established aCappella group at Virginia Tech. Mark Cirnigliaro created the group and adopted the name Juxtaposition. Since the group's creation, the members of Juxta have perfomed around VT's campus as well as across international lines.
Our Repitoire
It includes almost anything that can be arranged for a cappella male voices, including classics, 70s, 80s, rock, pop, hip-hop, and more. Everything from serious performances, to comedy skits, to original tracks can be heard at a Juxtaposition performance.
Honors and Awards
We have been fortunate enough to be recognized with nominations for our recorded albums for the Contemporary A Cappella Record Awards (CARAs), included on the Best of College A Cappella (BOCA) compilations twice, advanced to the International Championship of Collegiate Finals in 2004, and invited to perform at many prestigious events, including the White House.
Our Annual Performances
Generally, we hold one major concert each semester at The Lyric Theatre in Blacksburg, VA. We traditionally sing two sold out performances on a Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Tickets go on sale about 1 month in advance, and information will be posted on this web site as well as Facebook.
